We are a group of mostly high school students with varying levels of experience, founded and based in St. Thomas More Collegiate high school as a Game Development Club! We call ourselves M-GAP Development.

At M-GAP Development, we have been brought together by a common passion, a sense of wonderment, and a desire to create. We always work with the talent and skills we have in any given year, regardless of what they are. Nobody is left behind. It's no surprise, then, that every year's game is unique to each year's developers, just like a fingerprint. Some of us have made games before, but for many of us, M-GAP is our first adventure of game development.

There are four departments, each tasked with their own duties: Art, Programming, Sound, and Marketing. We strive to model our structure and functions as close to the industry as possible, giving a sense and some preparation for the future job market. Our key differing point is that we are not primarily concerned with profit. (If anything, you learn valuable work ethic and life skills early on at M-GAP Development! Not to mention, we provide opportunities to connect with the industries.)

Though we may be high school students, we believe that our future begins now. There is a flickering flame inside all of us, just waiting to be freed. We desire to actively chase our futures, no matter what they are--and everything starts here at M-GAP Development.

Join us on our journey to making dreams come true and become part of our close-knit, fun-loving, big-hearted family! (Visit the Join Us tab for more information. We look forward to new additions!)

Lost in a world of strange but real dreams, a boy named Sylvanus struggles to find his way. Without any memories or sense of identity, Sylvanus embarks on a journey after unexpectedly being betrayed by the first soul he meets. Throughout his journey, he helps those plagued by hatred and grief, and in turn, his memories start returning, piece by piece. But as Sylvanus' amnesia disappears, he starts to realize that his life wasn't as smooth as he expected it to be.

Out of his control, ancient souls plot and scheme against one another, ultimately pulling Sylvanus in as a key chess piece. Can Sylvanus keep his head clear and his values close, as he gets swept up in all the negativity around him? But most of all, can he overcome the hurdles fate has sent his way, and prove that humans are more than they seem?

Sometimes, to live is the most difficult and most frightful thing of all.

Congratulations for deciding to take this wonderful, ground-breaking opportunity to explore the passionate waters of game development! We thank you for your interest and would be overjoyed to have you! And remember, NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. The only requirements are being willing to learn and being responsible, on task, and on time. We value each member of the team, everything from personality, strengths, and also weaknesses. M-GAP is a positive environment with zero tolerance for discrimination, insults, and schoolyard bullies. (We assure you that any pineheads will be punished severely.)

You can join in one or more of four departments: Art, Programming, Sound, or Marketing! (We really recommend you only bite off as much as you can chew, fyi.)

Art Department

is responsible for all the graphics that go into our games. Most of the art we do ends up digital, but traditional art could be used if we can scan and photo edit it. Anything from characters to backgrounds, designs to animations-Art Department is responsible for them all! We use many programs like Photoshop, Paint Tool SAI, MangaStudio (Clip Studio Paint), Harmony, and others.

Programming Department

plays a big role in the making of games, but most importantly, it makes a game possible! We use anything from Tyranobuilder, Unity to building it from scratch using OpenGL with LWJGL to code our games. More experienced individuals will show the ropes to those less experienced, so there is no need to worry if you've never touched code before!

Sound Department

is tasked with the making, recording, and production of sound effects and soundtrack. We try our best to use handmade sounds and music to avoid the hassle of copyright issues. Besides, personally produced works can be used however you wish, even commercially! If you have a talent in playing instruments, you can most certainly apply to this department as well!

Marketing Department's

job is to promote M-GAP and our games! This involves managing social media accounts and regularly posting updates of our progress, starting fundraising campaigns, and projecting goals and proposing plans based on the situation. This department is particularly useful to those interested in going into business in the future!

Meetings are Mondays and Fridays in room 213, from 3pm-4pm. If you are unable to make meetings, that's alright! Most of the work done in Game Development Club can be done anywhere. You will be given access to our Discord server at the first meeting. Just communicate with anybody through Discord! (This is super important.)

Reminder that you MUST be willing to learn and be responsible enough to meet deadlines (or close enough to them), but if that requires you to spend more time individually, you are expected to do so. Remember, time management is key to everything in life!

DISCLAIMER: M-GAP Development is not responsible for your grades. It is your responsibility as a student to study. Extracurricular activities do not replace schoolwork; they merely enhance it. Join at your own discretion, but once joined you are expected to actively stay until the end of the project. (We aim to have one year projects.)

We look forward to seeing you!
